UPDATE 7: REBOOT

Er, it's just throwing a fit here, but it looks like that debugger did its job, whatever it did.

Well, let's hope this works.

Yeah, that's right, I've got all those BASIC scripts and stuff for this emulator from back when I did that stuff. It's kind of weird how much Color A Dinosaur emulator can be backported.

Might as well do this too. I think we can handle less gameplay bugs in trade for some graphical issues.Foolycharged wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 11:44 pmRemoving the hat is causing the game to view sayn as a dinosaur to color. The simple workaround is to

Er, it's just throwing a fit here, but it looks like that debugger did its job, whatever it did.
Right, I should have one somewhere. We can afford to lose a little progress, right? After all, this is a masterpiece of a game, no, masterpiece of all media and infinitely enjoyable. Rewatching a bit of the intro won't be so bad.

Well, let's hope this works.

I think flon's biggest weak points are strength and durability. She's some kind of rider right? I think I see a way to shore those up

UPDATE 8: MARF
----
T'would be an honor to have such a fine lady ride me to battle.
You know, it might help if he didn't say stuff like that all the time.
Umm... I don't know... maybe?
She seems a bit put off by the idea. Hm... what could it be?

We can fix that though.

"How about now?" you ask, but she still seems a bit nervous regarding the idea. Hrm...
I don't know...
Although I might not understand, I trust your judgement. Let's do it then.

Aaaand, there, it's done! You ask FLON if this makes the situation better.
It, um, helps a bit, maybe... but honestly, if you're there beside me, I think I'll be fine.
It's a reasonable request, and it's what besties are for, after all so you kinda automatically promise to do so. Oops.

Around this point some guy with brown hair, a pointy sword, and weird green clothing leaves the not-ruined house. It's like a teal or something, it's a really weird color.
Hello there! Are you headed in the direction of the nearest town, because I am! Say, want to team up?!
Well, he's rather energetic. The others weigh in with their opinion.
I say, there's strength in numbers, pardner. It could be a fine idea!
Hmm, how odd. Whatever you decide, I trust your judgement on this, LINE.
I... don't know about this, LINE.
Having completed this battle, you were planning on traveling southwards immediately, which you estimate would bring you to the next nearest town regardless. You also promised FLON you'd stay near her on the way there, so you also have to figure out what you want to do with that.
> Take MARF with you?
> Do you: Hold hands with FLON, Ride with FLON, or Stay at a respectable distance?
It's not uncommon for the masterful graphics of this game, even on low settings, to inspire people to take up learning and improving their art skills. It's such a gorgeous masterpiece.Greener223224 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 1:21 am>Remind self to take art classes once this damn plague ends

Hm, but about what again?
You approach FLON and ask her if she would be willing to ride SAYN into the next battle. You mention that you think it would be a lot safer for her, and it would make her amazing in combat.Foolycharged wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 11:08 pmI think flon's biggest weak points are strength and durability. Ah, she must be concerned that SAYN is too small.

We can fix that though.

"How about now?" you ask, but she still seems a bit nervous regarding the idea. Hrm...

Ah, yes, that's right! You run this plan of action by CANT.

Huh, I thought they introduced the player character earlier than this. Must be a weird remake decision.
Keep a safe distance from FLON, in these uncertain times you don't want to get too close unless you've got the proper protective equipment and I don't think I remember LINE grabbing a mask before we left her house.

UPDATE 9: STAR BRIGHT, SWORD FIGHT

You rough him up a bit, and demand to know his real name.
Ah, jeez, fine! The name's actually SNTLGO, but I didn't think you'd take that name either!
You inform him that his name is now WILY.
I mean not to question you, but I say, isn't this a little excessive?
A fine bit of wisdom from our beautiful leader!
If you say so, but I am unsure...
Gee golly, thanks!
Now, about FLON...
...and then, well, an idea pops into your head...

After some singing, you come across an old building that looks fine to sleep in for the night. There's nobody inside or in the area, so it should be safe enough.
FLON still sleeps near you regardless.

Music: Silence
You fall asleep pretty quickly all things considered.

...but you are awoken by strange noises in the night!
They're not too far away, and wouldn't take too long to investigate.

What kind of name even is MARF anyways? There's no way this guy is for real!Greener223224 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 1:07 amBeat him till his name's Willy, and then Take "Marf" with you

You inform him that his name is now WILY.

You inform CANT that you were also testing to make sure WILY wasn't another rustler. A rustler would've fought back after all, and since he isn't a rustler he'll be coming with the group because he'd probably follow us anyways.

Now, about FLON...
You think to yourself that it would be prudent to maintain a safe distance, especially if there was some sort of sickness going around. Although, you also remember that FLON usually lives alone with a bunch of magic horses.
...and then, well, an idea pops into your head...
...and it's kind of too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Elbert: "(Although, I'm not sure what "fanfiction" is, nor will this be much of an excuse...)"

Elbert: "It wants our world for some dark reason, and it wants all of us, save only a few, destroyed and left without trace."

You ask this strange person why it is you feel like you're stuck in some sort of bad fanfiction.

Update 13: To Another Endangered World
As the two of you progress up the steep stairs, you give your reply.

Elbert: Our goal is to find any potential allies we can and save their worlds from whatever dark influence is forming. My mask should be able to sight out any anomalies, so I should be able to pick out any doppelgangers or morphs sent in search of us. I'll be right behind you- with luck we should appear in nearly the same location.

As you begin to enter the portal, Elbert says one last thing before everything fades out.
Elbert: And remember, never speak your true name. Our foes may try to manipulate them out of us, and you must do everything in your power to not say it. To have your true name said by someone else will direct our enemy's forces straight to us. If your true name comes from your own lips, then you're as good as lost and the game is over.

MISSION LOG 2: GETTING UP AND DOWN TO BUSINESS
AUDIO LOG: BRINSTAR

Easy.

A refill is appreciated, although you're not going to question why this is here in the first place.

Argh! Youforgot failed to calculate the instability of the atmosphere on this planet!

...Is what an amateur would say. Your power converters transfer this to a boost in energy whereas others would have made a critical error, perhaps even losing all their gear.
Of course, you're the only one who has a suit with such capabilities, but that's besides the point.

Time to get to work.
Note: I'll probably be taking a hiatus from this LP in a few updates.

Of course, there was no reason to take a mission without having the proper equipment with you. Your special suit can easily take and adapt salvage into usable materials, and you know for a fact there must be some around here.Gloomy Rube wrote: ↑Sun Sep 13, 2020 7:13 pm>Use space jump to get the hidden powerups on this screen

MISSION LOG 3: ALIEN CONTACT

Might as well enjoy the mission some while you're here.

Through setting some reactors to overdrive with enough power to keep city blocks active for days, you can practically vaporize these things at hyperspeed. Of course, these things you're destroying are mostly parasitic to the planet, so it's a good thing. Probably.
Having this momentum is really nice as long as you don't hit something completely solid-
*slam*

At this point, the audio log is corrupted for a short time in a mix of loud yelling and a lot of crashing noises.

You decide it's probably not a terrible idea to haul them back to your ship, given your reputation of triggering planetary self-destruct sequences.

Yet, just as you escort them back through the giant tunnel you carved with your body, you see something rather unexpected.

Music: The Lost Timeline
Two other people seem to be here, perhaps bounty hunters as well, both in rather unusual equipment. Zebes has breathable air, though it's not like that matters for you.
One's a woman in her mid 20's with a strange greenish blue hair, a prosthetic arm, and two... swords? You've never seen her before.
The other is man with red hair, two large swords, a headband, a strange mask, and blue clothing. He's eerily familiar, and you unconsciously grit your teeth. Why would he be here!?
He speaks to the woman next to him. "Seems to be a... half-anomaly? Regardless, I think she's the one we're looking for." You don't recognize the voice, though you can't even remember what his sounded like. A lot has happened since then.
He then turns to you. "Might you have a moment to chat?"
You reply without hesitation.
"Not before I get my revenge."
You raise your Arm Cannon...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

...Oh, huh? It's over?
Ah, fuck, right, they never finished this remake. It's rather a shame since it's quite good.
I've heard there's a more complete version out there that someone found, though I've not got my hands on it yet. I suppose that at the end of the day, this means my run here is over for now until I can acquire a copy or somebody else with it decides to step up.
Until then, beachgoers.

Author's Note:
So, realtalk, I've kinda gotta take a break on this. I don't presently have as much time to work on this as I used to given it's getting to the busier side of the year for me, (and I'm burning out a little to begin with).
It has been fun, and I do thank all of you who's stuck around for this rather nonsense mess of things I did for some reason. I'll probably get back to it myself sometime as I've planned a rather lot of what to do with it, but I really won't have the time for it come soon.
If you've got questions regarding this thing that is basically a bad fanfiction, you can feel free to ask.
